Wellington House is a build-to-rent (BTR) development in Leicester’s city centre. Previously an office block, the building has recently been converted into 105 Build-to-rent apartments with a range of new facilities. The external private courtyard was previously used for car parking but is now under utilised, presenting a clear opportunity for enhancement as part of the residential experience.
Cube were appointed to develop initial landscape concepts to enhance the existing courtyard space to make it more inviting and usable for the current residents as part of an enhanced residential experience.
The concept proposes to reimagine the space with ground artwork and patterns applied to the existing tarmac surfacing and complimented by new street furniture and raised planting. This relatively low-intervention approach offers great flexibility to adapt the space in the future, whilst ensuring that existing servicing access requirements can be accommodated.
The project team are agreeing the scope to undertake the detailed design as part of the project programme with the current ambition of completing the delivery of the project on the ground in 2026.
