Merlin Wharf is existing build-to-rent (BTR) accommodation situated along the River Soar in Leicester city centre. The accommodation is split across three towers, 10, 14 and 16 storeys high, comprising 384 one and two bed apartments.
Cube were appointed to develop initial landscape concepts to enhance the existing podium courtyard spaces to make them more inviting and usable for the current residents as part of an enhanced residential experience.
The concept design seeks to create a series of new sub-garden spaces and outdoor rooms with added uses to attract and encourage residents into the courtyard and make the most of the waterfront location on the banks of the River Soar. Courtyard 1 will have a focus on providing leisure and outdoor working space for adult residents whilst Courtyard 2 will provide opportunities for children’s play. The design will be united by a cohesive street furniture and planting palette.
The project team are agreeing the scope to undertake the detailed design as part of the project programme with the current ambition of completing the delivery of the project on the ground in 2026.
